Page of Wands, plate by Pamela Colman Smith
Pamela Colman Smith, 1910

Upright

The Page of Wands is a faithful young man, a lover, a messenger: he brings news, often about the family, and speaks well of you to those who matter. If these days you are waiting for a letter, a call, a sign from a young person or a relative, it is no accident. In love it may be someone courting you with sincere enthusiasm; at work, an energetic collaborator acting as your go-between. He has the chief qualities of his suit: energy, enthusiasm, faithfulness. Waite warns only of a possible rival, if the Page of Cups appears alongside. The practical advice: welcome the message with trust, but check the source before acting on it.

«Dark young man, faithful, a lover, an envoy, a postman. Beside a man, he will bear favourable testimony concerning him. A dangerous rival, if followed by the Page of Cups. Has the chief qualities of his suit. He may signify family intelligence.»

Reversed

Reversed, the Page of Wands brings gossip and bad news: anecdotes, announcements, tittle-tattle that wounds. And with them an indecision that makes everything unstable. If these days a young person or an acquaintance unsettles you with confused stories, or if you are the one changing your mind every hour, it is no accident. Beware of anyone who brings news without bringing facts. In love, distrust rumours; at work, verbal promises. It is not a sentence. The practical advice: before reacting to a piece of news, ask the person concerned directly, and give yourself a full day before changing your plans.
