Wheel of Fortune

Major Arcana · number 10 · La Ruota della Fortuna

Wheel of Fortune, plate by Pamela Colman Smith
Pamela Colman Smith, 1910

Upright

The Wheel turns, and this time it turns your way. Destiny, fortune, a sudden rise: this card speaks of a change you did not cause but that lifts you higher. It may be an unexpected job offer, a meeting, a sum of money arriving when you had stopped counting on it. If lately you felt stuck, it is no accident that now everything moves at once. The practical advice: when opportunity knocks, answer right away, without putting it off until after the holidays. And remember the Wheel keeps turning: set something aside during the good days.

Reversed

Reversed, the Wheel still brings abundance, but an abundance that risks becoming too much. More commitments, more expenses, more people around, more things to manage: and you no longer know where to put your hands. If these days you feel full to the brim, between work, family and invitations, it is no accident. The danger is not lack but excess: buying to fill a void, saying yes so as not to miss anything. The practical advice: make a list of what you already have and cut one thing, just one, that you do not truly need.
