The Sun, plate by Pamela Colman Smith
Pamela Colman Smith, 1910

Upright

This card tells you something simple: the light is on your side. If you were waiting for a confirmation, in love or at work, the Sun brings it into broad daylight, with no shadows. Concrete happiness, a fortunate union, the contentment of someone who has what they need. It is the right moment to show yourself, to say yes to an invitation, to sign what you have already read carefully, to start a project with the person you love. Just one piece of advice: enjoy the warmth without overdoing it, the Sun warms but it can also dazzle.

Reversed

Reversed, the Sun does not go out: it simply shines a little less, says Waite, the same meaning in a lesser key. The happiness is there, but more modest than you dreamed; the agreement is reached, but with some compromise; the joy arrives, but a day late. If these days you feel slightly let down by a result that was good on paper, it is no accident: you were expecting full sun and got a fine but hazy morning. The practical advice: do not throw away the good because it is not perfect. Be grateful for what there is, and stay outdoors.
